[Stabilization of the injured acromioclavicular joint]

Authors review the functional anatomy of the sternoclavicular joint and the pathophysiological changes in injuries of the capsule and ligaments. The advantages and complications of the operative methods used for temporary stabilization of this joint are examined. It is stated that methods, the most generally used in the past decade were not suitable to solve the question of stabilization optimally. New possibilities are promised by the hinge and hooked plates, a therapy ensuring movement and loading stability, however little experience was yet gained with their use.
