Abstract:
This paper reviews the current evidence available from phase III trials of combination pre-operative chemoradiotherapy (CRT) in the treatment of rectal cancer. There is clear evidence that CRT is superior to long-course radiotherapy (LRT). However, the end-points and definitions used must be standardized for future clinical trials of combination CRT.
