    Conclusions:

    • Inhibition of cortisol production using metyrapone ameliorates endothelial dysfunction in patients with depression.
    • These findings suggest that cortisol plays a mechanistic role in the endothelial dysfunction observed in depression.
    • Targeting cortisol synthesis may offer a therapeutic strategy for vascular complications in depressive disorders.
