Is multidrug resistance relevant in breast cancer?
1CRC Department of Medical Oncology, University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK.
Abstract:
The multidrug resistance phenotype is associated with expression of P-glycoprotein (P-gp), an energy-dependent drug efflux pump. P-gp is expressed in several clinically resistant human cancers. This article discusses the evidence that P-gp expression may be implicated in the development of clinical drug resistance in patients with breast cancer.
