Main Results:
- Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) exhibited good incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) from 400-800 nm.
- A peak solar energy-to-electricity conversion efficiency (eta) of 7.4% was achieved with dye NKX-2677.
- Short-circuit current density (Jsc) of 13.5 mA cm(-2), open-circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.71 V, and fill factor (FF) of 0.77 were recorded.
- Electron injection from NKX-2677 to TiO(2) was extremely rapid (<100 fs), exceeding the dye's emission lifetime (1.0 ns).
Conclusions:
- The developed oligothiophene-coumarin dyes are highly effective for DSSC applications.
- Dye NKX-2677 demonstrates excellent performance, achieving a 7.4% conversion efficiency.
- Rapid electron injection and high yield contribute to the efficient operation of these DSSCs.

Aryldiazonium Salts to Azo Dyes: Diazo Coupling
The reaction of weakly electrophilic aryldiazonium (also called arenediazonium) salts with highly activated aromatic compounds leads to the formation of products with an —N=N— link, called an azo linkage. This reaction, presented in Figure 1, is known as diazo coupling and occurs without the loss of the nitrogen atoms of the aryldiazonium salt. Highly activated aromatic compounds such as phenols or arylamines favor the diazo coupling reaction. The coupling generally occurs at the para position.
Photoreceptors and Plant Responses to Light
Light plays a significant role in regulating the growth and development of plants. In addition to providing energy for photosynthesis, light provides other important cues to regulate a range of developmental and physiological responses in plants.
