Background:

3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors (statins) are widely used for hypercholesterolemia.
Cognitive impairment has been anecdotally linked to some statins in existing literature.

Observation:

A 53-year-old male hypercholesterolemia patient developed short-term memory loss.
The patient was taking rosuvastatin 10 mg/day and had no other medical conditions or concurrent medications.

Findings:

This is the first reported case of memory loss specifically associated with rosuvastatin.
Neuropsychiatric adverse effects resolved after rosuvastatin discontinuation, suggesting a probable causal link.

Implications:

Clinicians should consider rosuvastatin as a potential cause of reversible cognitive impairment in patients.
