Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare hemodynamic stability and fluid requirements between normal saline (crystalloid) and hetastarch (colloid) in cardiac surgical patients.

  • Randomized assignment of patients to normal saline or hetastarch.
  • Hourly monitoring of hemodynamic parameters and fluid balance for 8 hours post-surgery.
