CD8+ cytotoxic T cells induce relapsing colitis in normal mice

Antigen-specific CD8+ T cells, not CD4+, can induce relapsing colitis. Cytotoxic CD8+ T cells (Tc1) targeting epithelial cells initiate this intestinal inflammation, offering new insights into inflammatory bowel disease models.
