Laboratory Safety Management

Background:

Effective laboratory safety management is essential for preventing accidents and ensuring personnel well-being.
Assessing current safety awareness levels provides a baseline for targeted training programs.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the safety awareness of laboratory personnel regarding key laboratory procedures.
To identify specific areas where safety knowledge may be lacking.

Main Methods:

A questionnaire-based survey was administered to 84 laboratory personnel.
Data collected included demographics and knowledge of safety protocols for sample reception, accident procedures, and waste disposal.

Main Results:

A high percentage of personnel knew correct procedures for sample reception (70.2%) and post-accident response (90.5%).

Knowledge regarding laboratory waste disposal procedures was notably lower than other assessed safety topics.

The study population comprised 55.9% males and 44.1% females.

Conclusions:

Laboratory personnel demonstrate varying levels of safety awareness, with significant gaps in waste disposal knowledge.
Targeted educational interventions are necessary to enhance overall laboratory safety awareness and practices.
Improving safety knowledge can significantly reduce risks associated with laboratory operations.
