1Serviço de Obstetrícia A, Hospital do São Teotónio, Viseu.
When the baby is born, the woman's body suffers serious endocrine changes, and her reproductive system resumes its non-pregnant condition. The family structure and parent's roles change and the fact that the baby needs to be taken care of means that new, repetitive and tiring chores come up. This study is intended to give a general knowledge of the puerpera's quality of life and of the factors that may influence it. A conveniently unprobable sample of 121 puerperas between week 4 and 8 who were having appointments in health centers of the Sub-Regio de Sadde de Viseu was used.
