Ureteroscopy effectively treats ureteric stones. This study found no significant difference in pain or complications whether or not a double J stent was placed after ureteroscopy (URS).

  • No statistically significant differences in postoperative pain or hydronephrosis were observed between stented and non-stented groups.
  • Two cases required repeat URS due to residual fragments.

Conclusions:

  • Ureteroscopy is a safe and optimal treatment for ureteric stones.
  • Current ureteroscope and lithotripsy technology diminishes the routine indication for double J stents post-URS.
