Framework:

  • A 2005 meeting convened experts to review current pediatric IBD research and establish funding priorities.
  • Ten focus groups identified research needs in genetics, psychosocial issues, epidemiology, microbiology, immunology, quality improvement, pharmacogenomics, nutrition, growth, and clinical trials.
  • Proposed research areas were prioritized based on feasibility and importance by attendees.

Implementation:

  • The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America was recommended to prioritize five key areas.
