Summary

This study observed early electroencephalographic gamma responses during subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's patients. These brain activity changes correlated with reduced muscle rigidity, suggesting early treatment effects.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate electroencephalographic (EEG) responses during intraoperative subthalamic nucleus (STN) stimulation in advanced Parkinson's patients.
  • To explore the relationship between early EEG changes and clinical improvements during DBS implantation.

Main Methods:

  • Recording EEG during the implantation of STN DBS electrodes in advanced Parkinson's patients.
