Abstract:
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disorder characterized by progressive bone destruction, in which proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha play essential roles. Recent studies have revealed an important involvement of osteoclasts in bone destruction of RA. In this review, I would like to explain the molecular mechanism of osteoclast development in RA, and propose the possibility of anti-osteoclast therapy to the disease.
