Emergency responders rapidly acquired critical skills for terrorism response through an interactive, simulation-enhanced training program. This training significantly improved both individual and team performance in realistic scenarios.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the effectiveness of an interactive, simulation-enhanced training program.
  • To assess the acquisition of individual and team skills for emergency personnel responding to terrorism.
  • To quantify skill gains in realistic terrorism response scenarios.

  • A 16-hour, two-day multimedia and simulation-enhanced course was developed.
  • Realistic scenarios involving chemical, biologic, radiologic, and explosive terrorism were simulated.
