Doesn't the breast work anymore? A rant on the state of lactation advice today

Grandmothers often find that their children parent differently, or get parenting advice different from what they themselves learned as young mothers. When that happens, it can give the grandmother a feeling that what she did as a mother was invalid. When I became a grandmother, I considered myself lucky. I was a practicing paediatric nurse-practitioner and teaching in a university; as new studies came along that suggested making changes in the way people parented, I could understand and accept them from a medical point of view without feeling invalidated as a mother.
