Online therapy websites vary greatly, often lacking clear service descriptions and provider qualifications. Clinicians should be aware of these inconsistencies when patients seek e-therapy services.

To investigate the characteristics of e-therapy websites available online.

A systematic review of 55 e-therapy websites was conducted using Google and Yahoo.
Websites were analyzed for service descriptions, provider terminology and qualifications, client criteria, crisis resources, and data security information.
Search terms included 'online counseling,' 'online therapy,' and 'e-therapy.'
