Area of Science:

  • Immunotherapy
  • Oncology
  • Cellular Therapy

Background:

  • Sipuleucel-T (APC8015) is an autologous cellular immunotherapy product.
  • It utilizes dendritic cells pulsed with a fusion protein (PA2024) targeting prostatic acid phosphatase.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy of Sipuleucel-T in prostate cancer.
  • To assess its impact on prostate-specific antigen levels and survival outcomes.

Main Methods:

  • Phase II and III clinical trials were conducted in men with prostate cancer.
  • Participants included those with biochemically relapsed, hormone-refractory, and metastatic hormone-refractory disease.

Main Results:

  • Phase II trials showed decreased PSA and prolonged PSA doubling time in relapsed prostate cancer.
