ACE I/D polymorphism in different etiologies of ischemic stroke

This study found no association between the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism and ischemic stroke (IS) subtypes in the Polish population. The ACE I/D polymorphism did not appear to be a risk factor for different ischemic stroke etiologies.

- This study did not find a statistically significant association between the ACE I/D polymorphism and etiological subtypes of ischemic stroke in the studied Polish population.
- The ACE I/D polymorphism is unlikely to be a major genetic risk factor for large vessel disease, SVD, or cardioembolic stroke in this population.
- Further research with larger and diverse populations may be warranted to definitively establish or refute the link between ACE polymorphism and ischemic stroke.
