Summary

Post-transplant headache, a complication of organ transplantation, can be difficult to treat. Riboflavin (vitamin B2) effectively and safely treated headache in six transplant patients, offering a potential preventive option.

  • These patients received daily riboflavin at a dosage of 200 mg.

  • Riboflavin treatment resulted in successful headache resolution in all six patients.
  • The vitamin was well-tolerated and demonstrated a low risk of clinically significant drug interactions.
  • Riboflavin's properties suggest it is unlikely to interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.

Implications:

  • Riboflavin presents a safe and promising option for the preventive management of post-transplant headache.
  • Further clinical trials are warranted to confirm these preliminary findings.
  • This approach may improve the quality of life for organ transplant recipients experiencing headaches.
