Purpose of the Study:

  • To validate existing exercise behavior models in a new sample of older adults.
  • To determine if previously published models explain a significant proportion of variance in exercise behavior.
  • To explore demographic and psychological predictors of exercise behavior in community-dwelling older adults.

Main Methods:

  • A mailed questionnaire was administered to 324 community-dwelling individuals aged 74-85 years.
  • Data collected included demographics, exercise habits, health status, activities of daily living, mood, living situation, attitudes, self-efficacy, barriers, and enjoyment of exercise.
