Disproportionate abundance between ectomycorrhizal root tips and their associated mycelia

This study reveals differences in ectomycorrhizal fungal communities between soil mycelia and root tips in a Danish beech forest. Mycelial communities showed more boletoid fungi, while root tips had more russuloid and Cortinarius species.
