  • The CBI was used to compare symptom frequencies between patients with frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD).
  • Main Results:

    • The CBI demonstrated acceptable test-retest reliability.
    • Good concurrent validity was found when compared to the Neuropsychiatric Inventory.
    • The CBI identified significantly higher rates of disinhibition, stereotypic behavior, elation, anxiety, poor self-care, and eating habit changes in FTLD patients compared to AD patients.

    Conclusions:

    • The Cambridge Behavioral Inventory (CBI) is a reliable and valid informant-based tool for assessing neuropsychiatric symptoms and daily functioning in dementia.
    • The CBI can effectively distinguish between the behavioral and functional profiles of FTLD and AD.
    • The CBI is suitable for use in general clinical practice for dementia assessment.
