[Side effects of drugs: from unwanted to desirable effects]
1Service de Médecine Interne, Hôpital Erasme, Bruxelles.
Abstract:
The origins of unwanted side effects of drugs may be related to the clinical features of the patient. Indeed, co-morbidity may influence drug absorption, metabolization, distribution or excretion. In this paper, we will discuss the choice of a specific treatment for high blood pressure and hypercholesterolemia, taking into account the side effects of drugs and the specific clinical profile of the patient. We will focus on less known side effects in order to optimize individual patient care.
