Pre-emptive local anesthesia for needlescopic video-assisted thoracic surgery: a randomized controlled trial

Pre-emptive local anesthesia before video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) port incision can reduce post-operative wound pain. This study found reduced pain at seven days in patients receiving local anesthetic infiltration.

- The overall post-operative discomfort in these VATS procedures was mild.
