Area of Science:

  • Dermatology
  • Oncology

Background:

  • Cutaneous verrucous carcinoma is a rare, low-grade variant of squamous cell carcinoma.
  • It typically affects distal extremities and is frequently misdiagnosed as giant warts.

Observation:

  • A 41-year-old male presented with multiple verrucous plaques on bilateral feet, ankles, and the left thigh.
  • Immunohistochemical analysis showed positive staining for proliferating cell nuclear antigen in basal and suprabasal layers.

Findings:

  • The patient was diagnosed with multiple cutaneous verrucous carcinomas.
  • Successful treatment was achieved using systemic acitretin.

Implications:

  • This case expands the understanding of multiple cutaneous verrucous carcinoma presentation.
