Background:

The rapid evolution of technology in biomedical science necessitates updated medical informatics (MI) curricula.
A multidisciplinary and comprehensive approach is crucial for effectively teaching the interdisciplinary nature of MI.

Purpose of the Study:

To pilot a new, interactive teaching approach for medical informatics (MI).
To evaluate the impact of interactive instruction on medical students' learning within an existing MI course.
To determine the feasibility of a larger-scale implementation of interactive MI teaching.

Main Methods:

A pilot study was conducted within a current MI course for medical students.
Two teaching teams were assigned to either traditional or interactive instruction tracks.
The study evaluated the influence of structural and instructional aspects on student confidence and attitudes.
