Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate neopterin levels in long-lasting asthma, differentiating between allergic and non-allergic phenotypes in elderly patients.
  • To assess neopterin's potential as a marker for Th1 immune response in asthma classification.

  • Evaluated allergic parameters (skin prick tests, IgE, eosinophils) and serum neopterin levels in 64 asthmatic patients (age >65) and 41 healthy controls.
