Association study of tryptophan hydroxylase 2 gene polymorphisms in panic disorder

Genetic variations in the tryptophan hydroxylase gene 2 (TPH2) were studied for their link to panic disorder (PD). While no overall association was found, a specific TPH2 gene variant showed a connection in female patients with pure panic disorder.

- The studied TPH2 polymorphisms may not be robustly associated with general panic disorder predisposition.
- A potential gender-specific role for TPH2 gene variants in panic disorder pathogenesis is suggested.
