    • Five cases of extra-palatal SANS were identified (3 women, 2 men).
    • Patients presented with painful, rapidly enlarging swellings (1.0-1.5 cm) on the buccal mucosa, tongue, or lip.
    • Histology revealed acinar necrosis with inflammatory infiltrate and eosinophilia; lesions healed spontaneously within 3 weeks without recurrence.

    Conclusions:

    • SANS is an uncommon, self-limiting inflammatory condition of minor salivary glands with distinct clinical and histological features.
    • Histological similarities between SANS and early necrotizing sialometaplasia (NS) suggest a potential relationship.
    • Further case reporting is essential for better defining SANS and distinguishing it from NS.
