Summary

A novel sliding umbilical window technique improves access for Ramstedt pyloromyotomy in infants with hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. This method ensures safe, effective surgery with excellent cosmetic results and fewer complications.

Technical Modification of the Terminal Ureter During Total Transperitoneal Laparoscopic Nephroureterectomy for Upper Urinary Tract Urothelial Carcinoma

  • Ramstedt pyloromyotomy was performed intracorporeally in 13 consecutive infant cases.
  • Main Results:

    • All 13 pyloromyotomies were successfully completed without complications.
    • Wounds healed primarily with no conspicuous scarring, abscesses, or hernias.
    • Postoperative recovery was uneventful for all infants.

    Conclusions:

    • The sliding umbilical window technique provides superior access and exposure of the pylorus.
    • This method facilitates safe, intracorporeal pyloromyotomy with excellent cosmetic outcomes.
