Flexible Colonoscopy in Mice to Evaluate the Severity of Colitis and Colorectal Tumors Using a Validated Endoscopic Scoring System

Background:

Foreign body insertion into the rectum is a rare but serious clinical event.
Trauma and intentional self-insertion are common causes of rectal foreign bodies.
Prompt diagnosis and management are crucial to prevent complications.

Observation:

A 55-year-old male presented with a history of assault and anal insertion of a glass object.
Physical examination and imaging confirmed the presence of a bottle within the rectosigmoid colon.
The object was lodged in the rectosigmoid junction, posing a risk of perforation.

Findings:

Successful non-operative removal of the rectal foreign body (bottle) was achieved.
The procedure was performed transanally under general anesthesia.
The patient tolerated the procedure well with no immediate complications.

Implications:

This case highlights the importance of a thorough clinical evaluation for rectal foreign bodies.
Transanal manipulation and extraction can be a safe and effective method for removing rectosigmoid foreign bodies.
Early surgical intervention may be necessary if conservative management fails or complications arise.
