  • To determine the validity and reliability of a new assessment tool for residents performing an interscalene brachial plexus block (ISB).

  • Trainee performance was videotaped and evaluated by blinded expert raters using a checklist and global rating scale.
  • Construct validity was assessed by the ability to discriminate between different training levels.
