Abstract:
LactMed, released in the spring of 2006, is a new peer-reviewed database from the Specialized Information Services division of the National Library of Medicine that is accessible free of charge through the TOXNET suite of databases. As its name indicates, Lact- Med provides information on medicines used during lactation along with data on the levels of these drugs in breast milk and infant blood, the potential effects on the breastfed infants, and possible alternatives to these drugs. doi:10.1300/J115v26n01_05.
