Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the physiological and immunological changes in marathon runners post-exercise.

Main Methods:

  • Blood samples were collected from 90 competitive distance runners (70 male, 20 female) immediately, 24, and 48 hours after a marathon.
  • Analyzed parameters included neutrophil count, plasma cortisol, creatine kinase, C-reactive protein, total protein, albumin, fibrinogen, haptoglobin, and interleukin-1 activity.

    • These findings provide insights into the body's complex response to extreme physical exertion.
