Area of Science:

  • Plastic Surgery
  • Facial Rejuvenation Techniques

Background:

  • The endoscopic forehead lift (EFL) is an advanced surgical procedure.
  • It is increasingly adopted, often superseding traditional coronal and pretrquial methods.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To present a case series evaluating the outcomes and complications of EFL.
  • The study was conducted in the Otorhinolaryngology Department of the Federal University of Uberlândia.

Main Methods:

  • Sixty-seven patients underwent EFL between January 2001 and January 2004.
  • Seven patients also received the "triangles technique" for forehead rejuvenation.
  • Patient age ranged from 38 to 59 years, with 97% being female.

Main Results:

  • 56 patients achieved satisfactory results with EFL.

Related Experiment Videos

  • Improvements were noted in brow ptosis and reduction of forehead wrinkles.
  • Complications included ptosis recurrence in 2 patients and temporary facial nerve branch paralysis in one.
  • Conclusions:

    • Endoscopic forehead lift (EFL) is a highly effective procedure.
    • The technique yields satisfactory outcomes for the vast majority of patients.
    • EFL is associated with a low rate of complications.
