Ciprofloxacin therapy for typhoid fever needs reconsideration

Ciprofloxacin resistance in Salmonella Typhi is increasing, making it ineffective for treating enteric fever in central India. Older antibiotics like chloramphenicol may be viable again due to declining multidrug resistance.

- Declining multidrug resistance suggests that older drugs like chloramphenicol, cotrimoxazole, and ampicillin could be reconsidered for treating enteric fever.
