Summary

Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) periocular involvement occurred in 2.9% of patients. Early diagnosis and treatment of CL lesions in the eye area are crucial to prevent deformities.

  • Understanding the epidemiology and clinical presentation of periocular CL is essential for accurate diagnosis and management.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the frequency of periocular involvement in CL in Turkey's Cukurova region.
  • To analyze the clinical characteristics, diagnostic methods, and treatment approaches for periocular CL.
  • To highlight the importance of early intervention in preventing ocular complications.

Main Methods:

  • Prospective evaluation of patients diagnosed with CL between December 1998 and December 2004.
  • Detailed assessment of lesion location, type, and patient demographics.
