Assessment of Dependence in Activities of Daily Living Among Older Patients in an Acute Care Unit

Published on: September 30, 2020

  • Only 2.1% of men and 1.1% of women achieved a healthy lifestyle score.
  • Poor lifestyle (score 0) significantly increased the risk of moderate or lower work ability (OR=6.67 for men, OR=14.44 for women).
  • Work ability was strongly associated with lifestyle in both genders.

Conclusions:

  • Lifestyle improvement programs should target all adults.
  • Future interventions to enhance work ability must integrate lifestyle and work-related factors.
