Rosette inhibitory factor (RIF), a low-density lipoprotein (LDL) species, was isolated from hepatitis B virus-infected patients. RIF inhibits T lymphocyte E rosette function and mixed lymphocyte reactions, suggesting a role in viral-induced liver injury.
