Background:

Cardiac electrical activity simulations typically use generic models.
Accurate patient-specific models require detailed structural information.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop a semi-automated technique for creating patient-specific cardiac tissue models.
To enable integration of experimental data with computational modeling.

Main Methods:

Imaging cardiac ventricular tissue at ~1 micrometer resolution.
Constructing a 10 micrometer resolution geometric and structural model.
Utilizing the model for solving bidomain equations.

Main Results:

Demonstrated a semi-automated technique for cardiac tissue modeling.
Successfully applied the procedure to a rat ventricle sample.
Enabled tissue-specific model construction in under one week.
