Background:

Electronic Patient Records (EPR) are crucial for modern healthcare.
Secure and efficient sharing of image-based EPR is a significant challenge.
Existing systems often lack robust security and interoperability for collaborative applications.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop a secure, web-based system for interactive display of image-based EPR.
To enable collaborative medical applications over intranet and internet.
To ensure data integrity, authenticity, and privacy during communication and exchange.

Main Methods:

Developed a four-component system: EPR DICOM gateway (EPR-GW), EPR repository server (EPR-Server), Web Server, and EPR DICOM viewer (EPR-Viewer).
Integrated Digital Signature and Authentication security modules within EPR-GW and EPR-Viewer.
Utilized SSL/TLS-based secure communication for data privacy.

Main Results:

Successfully created a system for interactive display of image-based EPR.
Demonstrated the integration of security modules for data integrity and authenticity.
Established secure communication channels for EPR data exchange.

Conclusions:

The developed system offers a novel approach to managing image-based EPR.
Web technology and DICOM standards facilitate an open architecture for collaborative medical applications.
