Grapple allergy: the grape or the apple?

Summary

Two patients developed food allergies after eating a Grapple, a novel fruit. This highlights the need for clear food labeling for individuals with allergies.

Background:

Food allergies are common, with new food products frequently entering the market.
Grapple(R) is a recently introduced fruit, presenting a novel potential allergen.
Understanding allergies to new foods is crucial for public health.

Observation:

Two unique cases of patients experiencing allergic reactions after consuming Grapple are presented.
Clinical history and diagnostic testing were used to identify the specific allergen.
Skin prick testing and radioallergosorbent testing were employed.

Findings:

Clinical evaluation and allergy testing confirmed a specific food allergy to Grapple.
The study identified Grapple as the causative agent for the observed allergic reactions.
