Summary

This case study details a rare giant orbital cyst causing progressive exophthalmos in a young girl. Surgical excision successfully removed the cyst, which was growing with the deformed eyeball.

  • Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a large, fluid-filled lesion occupying the entire left orbit without intracranial communication.

Findings:

  • Surgical excision of the lesion was performed.
  • The excised mass was identified as a giant orbital cyst growing synchronously with a deformed globe.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the importance of considering giant orbital cysts in the differential diagnosis of pediatric proptosis.
  • Successful surgical management can restore ocular aesthetics and prevent further complications.
