Abstract:
Due to physical considerations of our Sun's demise, humanity's future lies in space. Motives for space travel are national prestige, adventurousness, and scientific curiosity, as well as hope of finding a future and better home for mankind other than our small, overcrowded, overexploited and polluted planet. Considering the amount of time required for interstellar travel according to the laws of physics known today, such travel would last generations in human terms. Thus, questions of fertility, pregnancy and birth in space conditions are vital and necessary for implementing such journeys. This review discusses the relevant knowledge acquired thus far.
