Summary

Talon cusp is a rare dental anomaly, particularly on lower teeth. This case highlights a talon cusp on a permanent mandibular central incisor, associated with periodontitis.

Background:

Talon cusp is an uncommon developmental anomaly of teeth.
It is characterized by an extra cusp-like structure projecting from the lingual or palatal surface of an anterior tooth.

Observation:

This report details a rare occurrence of a talon cusp.
The anomaly was observed on a permanent mandibular central incisor.

Findings:

The talon cusp was associated with periodontitis.
Despite the association, the tooth was otherwise asymptomatic.

Implications:

This case contributes to the understanding of talon cusp prevalence and presentation.
It highlights the importance of considering dental anomalies in the diagnosis of periodontal issues.
