Abstract:
Patients are often dissatisfied with the information provided for them by doctors. A simple cheap method of improving communication by tape recording the initial consultation with oncology outpatients is described. Analysis of 100 taped consultations by a subsequent questionnaire revealed that patients and their relatives claimed enormous benefit from the opportunity to hear the consultation again.
