[Subepithelial keratomileusis and laser in situ keratomileusis for the correction of high myopia]
1Department of Ophthalmology, Yan'an Hospital, Kunming 650051, China. cnynyy@163.com
Purpose:
To compare the effectiveness and safety between laser subepithelial keratomileusis (LASEK) and conventional laser in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK) for high myopia.
Methods:
In this prospective study, LASEK was performed in 75 eyes of 39 patients and LASIK was performed in 79 eyes of 41 patients for high myopia with a prospective clinical follow-up period.
Results:
In LASEK group, best corrected visual acuity was achieved from 1 week to 1 month postoperatively, uncorrected visual acuity was achieved to preoperative corrected visual acuity in 95.83% after 6 months since surgery, main complications include high intraocular pressure and mild corneal Haze formation; In LASIK group, uncorrected visual acuity was achieved to preoperative corrected visual acuity in 94.35% after 6 months since surgery, no corneal HAZE was examined, main complications include refractive regression and corneal epithelium ingrowth combined with flap melting.
Conclusion:
LASIK and LASEK are all safe and effective refractive surgery for high myopia.
