Regular aerobic exercise offers significant benefits, but individuals over 40 with cardiac risk factors or coronary artery disease (CAD) should undergo a physical exam and possibly an exercise ECG before starting vigorous activity. Overall, exercise is safe and beneficial for most people, including those with CAD or heart dysfunction.
