Abstract:

From the whole plant of Plantago asiatica, two new iridoid glucosides were isolated and their structures were established as 3,4-dihydroaucubin and 6'-O-beta-glucosylaucubin, respectively.

α-glucosidase inhibitors, including acarbose (Precose), miglitol (Glyset), and voglibose (Voglib) (primarily available in Asia), are drugs that control blood sugar levels by delaying the digestion of starch and disaccharides.
